Singapore Airlines bursts into flames after making an emergency landing at Changi Airport

An air mishap have been averted after a Singapore Airlines flight SQ368 made an emergency landing at Changi Airport with 222 passengers and 19 crew on board.

However, upon touching down on the runway, the Airplane burst into flames. The airplane which was vound for Milan, Italy from the Changi Airport, Singapore made a turn-around back to its point of departure after about 2 hours into the journey. 

Ordinarily, a flight from Changi Airport to Milan takes an estimated 12 hours to reach its destinations, but the pilot took no chances when he returned to its base upon an "engine oil warning message" was prompted.

Although the Boeing SQ 368 airplane's right wing burst into flames immediately it touched down, the passengers and all persons on board were asked to stay back in the airplane for another five minutes before the fire was extinguished by firefighters.

In a message posted out by the management of Singapore Airlines, "The Aircraft's right engine caught fire after the the aircraft touched down at Changi Airport at around 6.50 am."

The Singapore Airlines management further noted that the passengers "disembarked through stairs" and transported to the terminal building by bus were they will be transferred to "another aircraft which is expected to depart for Milan later today."

No person was reported injured and no fatality was recorded, although one passenger stated they were scared that they will die. "We were so close to death," she said.

Speaking to the Straight Times, Lee Bee Lee who was on her to Milan to sell her merchandise stated that the "blaze was quite fierce and we waited for around two to three minutes before the fire engines arrived."

In her Facebook post, Lee noted that the fire fighters "shot foam and water into the fire and eventually it was put out!"
