Indian boy paraded naked round a village so as to make it rain

An Indian community has taken its quest for rain to the spiritual realm after enduring an expansive period of drought. The weird ritual entailed parading a boy naked round the village with a bucket of water tipped over his head.


After the boy was made to dance naked in front of the villagers who played drummed and chanted, he carried the bucket of water over his head as a plea to their god of rain. At which moment the villagers said a prayer "puja" to their deity.

The incident occurred Pandarahalli village in Chitradurga.
