Nigeria's National Media Outfit NTA "Garri and Groundnut" Tweet exposes its Insensitivity to the Plights of Nigerians amidst Recession

Nigeria's national TV carrier The National Television Authority (NTA) appears not to be touch with the reality in Nigeria or has chosen to ignore it by making a tweet that depicts its insensitivity to the conditions of millions of Nigeria.

The TV house tweeted thus:
Nothing is as soothing as taking Garri and Groundnut with chilled water in the afternoon.

Basically, the said meal depicts poverty as it is mostly taken by impoverished Nigerian household as a "saving meal".

Nigeria's economy is in recession with its accompanying hardship. There is currently a high rate of employment with inflation in double digits at 17%. Also, the Naira's value in world financial market continuously plummets. These signs reveal that most Nigerians have clung unto to "Garri and Groundnut" meal for sustenance. But not as soothing as NTA makes it look.

Meanwhile Nigerians have taken umbrage with the tweet. A Twitter user referred to as a "new low", while another stated that it is "hunger time" in Nigeria.
