In politics, just as in life, everything matters besides being symbolic. Soothing a crying baby, stopping by a hospital, playing with little children, having fun with your dog, laughing and even crying can make the difference. It may go along way to symbolize one's touch with reality and life. Obama with a crying baby, Putin with his dogs, Clinton with little children, etc. But not Trump. 

While on working visit to Japan, President Obama pampered a crying baby to calmness, and it made news, showing how caring and loving a father Obama was. This happened at US Marine Corp Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan. After delivering his historic speech, he went round shaking his audience, but one event remained indelible in the minds of the audience: President Obama made a crying baby to stop crying by taking her of her mother and pampering her to calmness before returning the now-cheering baby to her mother. It was symbolical and with a baby, such cannot be acted. It was real.

In contrast with President Obama's fatherly skills, Republican Party Presidential Nominee Donald Trump instead made a calm baby cry. Just rounding off his seven-state campaign at the University of Colorado's Gallogly Event Centre, US, Trump held two babies his arm in his attempt to pose as a soothing and caring father. But the babies did not buy into the plot as they scampered for their parents. One even with as far as wailing. While the baby girl reached out to her mother, the boy instead took to wailing before they were rescued from Donald Trump.
