Vintage picture of Guardiola, Emmanuel Amuneke and Mourinho

This picture shows that Guardiola was once a player under the managerial skills of Mourinho. 

In the pictures are Guardiola and Nigerian player, Emmanuel Amuneke, as players of Barcelona and Jose Mourinho as Assistant Coach, celebrating the victory of Barcelona against Real Betis on 28 June, 1997. The match was the COPA del Rey final which Barcelona won by 3 goals to 2. Also on the scoresheet was another Nigerian player, Findi George, who played for Real Betis.

Now the trio are soccer team managers in their own rights. Emmanuel Amuneke is the current manager of Nigeria's under 17 soccer team. He began managing the team in 2014. He was also part of the team of Nigeria's prolific players that stunned the world by lifting Olympics gold medal in soccer in Atlanta 1996.


Pep Gaurdiola requires no introduction in the soccer world. He had successfully managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich, helping club win their local leagues at one point in time. He is expected to resume managerial duties at Manchester City FC by August. 

Mourinho has had to contend with his former player. While at Real Madrid, Mourinho vied for the La Laga title with Pep Guardiola. Mourinho would be managing Manchester United from August, 2016.
