Lionel Messi breaks another record, becomes Argentina's all time top scorer

The meteoric rise of football legend Lionel Messi has witnessed the shattering of records that stood to the admiration of soccer fans around the world. 

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is not ending the record breaking streak as he netted his 55th goal for his country, Argentina. The record was previously held by the prolific Argentinian striker, Gabriel Batistuta who had a record of 54 goals in 74 appearances for the Argentinian Senior National team

In the 4.0 annihilation of United States at the Copa America Semis that saw Argentina advance to the finals. The goal came through a fantastic curvy free kick from the magical left foot of the striker.

With the latest record breaking, Lionel Messi has the records of the highest goalscorer of La Liga, Barcelona FCB, and the Argentinian national team.

The 28-year-old Argentine has appeared for his national team for 112 times, and scored 55 as of 22 June, 2016. He is however yet to win any trophy for the senior national team of Argentina to the chagrin of Argentinian soccer lovers who have accused him of being more dedicated to his club side, Barcelona, than his country. Hopefully, he may win the Copa America this time.
