Frank Warren Slights Floyd Mayweather, As he Praises The Greatest, Muhammad Ali

Legendary Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather
World renowned boxing promoter, Frank Warren, had Sunday derided Floyd Mayweather's approach to boxing duel while speaking of great admiration of Muhammad Ali, the Greatest boxer of all time.

Speaking to Mirror, Sunday, Frank Warren was full of praises for the greatest sports hero, whose exploits in the sporting world and humanitarian engagements endeared him to so many persons around the world. According to Warren, the three-time world heavyweight champion could only be compared with late global icon and Nobel Peace Laureate, Nelson Mandela. In his words,
"[Muhammad Ali] was certainly the most famous person in the world and I would put him on par with the most impressive person I've ever met in Nelson Mandela.
"They were both men of principle, who were prepared to do what they believed in even if it meant going to prison. He [Muhammad Ali] was the guy who was willing to fight for his principles and willing to go to jail for it."

His above statement referenced to the travails of both Muhammad Ali and Nelson Mandela, who both were imprisoned for fighting the causes they respectively believed in. While Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for fighting against the dehumanizing apartheid regime in South Africa, Muhammad Ali gave up his world championship and suffered humiliation in American prison for a career prime period of three years because of his refusal to be drafted as an American soldier in United States-Viet Nam War.

Continuing in his eulogy, Frank Warren lamented that the boxing world would never see another like Muhammad Ali again.

"He changed the whole  dynamic in sport," he said before slipping a slight to Floyd Mayweather. While it would have been his dream to promote Muhammad Ali, Frank Warren did not mince word to express his disdain for the dodgy approach of Floyd Mayweather in choosing his opponents.

"What would he be worth now? Pay-per-view? Well, forget Mayweather and the rest. He [Muhmmad Ali] was involved was involved in exciting fights, unlike Mayweather. He fought the best in their prime and ducked no one"
Speaking of Floyd Mayweather's dodgy approach to fighting worthy opponents, Floyd Mayweather thrice postponed his fight with Manny Pacquiao, and refused to fight Amir Khan.

Prior to the retirement of the pugilist, there were speculations that Floyd Mayweather would fight with Amir Khan, however the fight never was as Amir described Mayweather as being scared to fight him.

"I spoke to my team, and I even said 'I'll fight you for free,' just to show the world that I'am a better fighter than than him, but he just didn't want to fight me and wanted the easy way out," Amir Khan said.
