GrandPrix Mshap: Spanish MotoGP Star Luis Salom Dies in Grand Prix practice

Luis Salom, 25, years has died from injuries he sustained while practicing for the Catalunya Grand Prix.



Luis Salom, who made his debut to the Grand Prix World Championship in 2009 at Jerez in the 125cc category was said to have fallen off his SAG-run Kalex at 12, prompting the race to be flagged "red" with just 25 minutes remaining of the race.

In a statement posted by MotoGP, he was treated on the spot for injuries sustained. Two medical ambulances and a medical helicopter were deployed to facilitate treatment. However, the severity of the injuries led to the decision to transport him by road to hospital, Hos[ital General de Catalunya, where he underwent surgery upon arrival.

Unfortunately, he could not make it out of the injuries, and passed on at the local hospital at about 16.55 local time, Friday.

Since his debut to the Grand Prix World Championship, Luis Shalom had been successful. He is said to have finished the podium in 25 races, including nine victories in the Moto3 World Championship" In 2012, he finished second placed in the standings of Moto3 World Championship, while in 2013, he was place third overall.
