President Of Turkey, Recep Erdogan, Urges Muslims To Shun Birth Control

During a live broadcast on Monday, 30 May, 2016, the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan was said to have warned all Muslims to shun birth control and have more children. He called on all Islam adherents to reject contraception and have more children, saying "It interferes with God's work"

"We will multiply our descendants. They talk about population planning, birth control. No Muslim family can have such approach. Nobody can interfere in God's work. The first duty here belongs to mothers", he was quoted as saying.

He urged the women especially, particularly on "well educated future mothers", to not use birth control and to ensure the continued growth of the Turkish population.

"For years they committed the treason of birth control in this country, seeking to dry up our bloodline. Lineage is very important both economically and spiritually", the Turkish leader said.

Mr. Erdogan is a father of four and believes that couples should have at least three children to boost the Turkish population.
